Why some Tesla stores pay the referral benefit on Model 3 only

By the TeslaPromoCodes.com desk · published October 7, 2026

Short answer

In Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Singapore, Tesla's referral page listed a cash amount off Model 3 and showed Model Y with no buyer benefit on its latest capture. If you are buying a Model Y in one of those stores, a referral link gets you nothing on the car. Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines paid cash on both models.

How we know Model Y is listed but empty

Tesla's referral page carries its own product data. In these stores the Model Y entry is present with a cash value of zero, and the page shows the Model Y card with no benefit line under it. That is different from a model that is simply not offered on the page, which is how Cybertruck appears outside North America. How we read the pages.

Why Tesla might do this

Tesla does not explain per-store choices on its referral pages, and we will not guess at its pricing strategy. What the data supports is narrower: the benefit is set model by model and store by store, so "Tesla referral = X off" is never safe to repeat across models or borders.

What to do if you want a Model Y in one of these stores

  • Price the Model Y as listed; the referral link changes nothing on it at the latest capture.
  • Check new inventory in your local Tesla site — stock cars are priced separately from custom orders.
  • Still compare Model 3 if it fits: the cash benefit is shown before you configure.
