What happened

Tesla changed Supercharger prices in Canada twice in September 2026. Drive Tesla Canada reported on September 11 that rates rose at more than 200 sites, mostly by $0.01 to $0.03 per kWh. On September 24 it reported a second round: of 240 locations with changed prices, 170 went up and 70 went down. Calgary and Edmonton fell to $0.48 per kWh for Tesla drivers; Nova Scotia rose the most.

The two rounds, side by side

All rates below are as reported by Drive Tesla Canada on the dates shown, in Canadian dollars per kWh. Supercharger prices are set per site and can change again at any time, so treat these as a record of September, not a quote for your next trip.

Selected Canadian Supercharger rates before September 11, after September 11 and after September 24, 2026, as reported by Drive Tesla Canada.
LocationBefore Sept 11After Sept 11After Sept 24
Calgary and Edmonton (Tesla drivers)$0.51$0.57$0.48
Calgary and Edmonton (non-Tesla drivers)$0.68 (Calgary 130 Avenue SE)$0.82$0.66
Enfield, NS (peak)$0.64$0.71$0.75
SaskatoonNot reported$0.54 (as reported September 24)$0.48

On September 11, the outlet counted more than 200 sites with higher rates, 65 with lower ones and 10 unchanged. Ottawa's Campeau Drive peak rate went from $0.44 to $0.52, with off-peak holding at $0.28. Burlington, Ontario rose from $0.51 to $0.56 at peak. Nanaimo's Woodgrove Centre fell from $0.29 to $0.26 at peak.

By September 24, Alberta had swung the other way: below where it started. Nova Scotia kept climbing, and the outlet reported a non-Tesla rate of $1.01 per kWh at Digby, up from $0.96. Ottawa was mixed, with some sites dropping to $0.50 at peak and others rising to $0.55.

Who this affects

Canadian Tesla owners who rely on Supercharging, and buyers estimating running costs before they order. A buyer in Alberta pays less per kWh than before September. A buyer who drives in Nova Scotia pays more, especially at peak. Many sites price peak and off-peak differently, which is now the biggest lever an owner has.

The myth this corrects: free Supercharging with a code in Canada

Coupon pages often promise free Supercharging for using a "Tesla code". In Canada that is not what the referral link gives. Canada showed 3 months of FSD (Supervised) on Model 3 and 3 months of FSD (Supervised) on Model Y, on our capture of Tesla's Canada referral page dated October 5, 2026. There is no Supercharging distance in it, so the rates above are what a new Canadian owner pays from day one. We never turn FSD months into a dollar figure, and you should be wary of any page that does.

What has not changed

  • Members pay less than non-Tesla drivers. The gap remains at every site in these reports.
  • Prices live in the app. The Tesla app and the car's navigation show the current rate per site before you arrive. Drive Tesla Canada points readers there too.
  • No code lowers a Supercharger rate. Rates are set by Tesla per site and time of day.

What to do

  • Before a long trip, check each planned Supercharger's rate in the Tesla app or the car's navigation. September showed it can move within two weeks.
  • Where a site has peak and off-peak pricing, plan longer sessions off-peak. Campeau Drive in Ottawa held $0.28 off-peak while peak rose.
  • Estimating running costs for a new Tesla in Canada: use local rates, not a free-charging promise. The Canadian referral benefit is FSD (Supervised) months, not distance.
  • Ignore pages that sell "free Supercharging codes". Tesla does not issue them.
