Tesla as a Belgian company car: ordered from January 1, 2027, it is 95% deductible

What happened

In Belgium, a zero-emission company car ordered before January 1, 2027 stays 100% tax-deductible, and that rate stays with the car in later years. A car ordered in 2027 is 95% deductible, then 90% in 2028, 82.5% in 2029, 75% in 2030 and 67.5% from 2031 (BDO Belgium, 2023; confirmed by Securex on May 13, 2026). For a purchase, the date the order form is drawn up and signed counts, not delivery.

The schedule, and where we checked it

The brief for this item rested on a 2023 note from BDO Belgium. Rules like these can be changed by later programme laws, so we checked a current source. Securex's May 13, 2026 note gives the same schedule, which means it still stood this year.

Tax deductibility of a zero-emission company car in Belgium, by the year it is ordered. BDO Belgium (January 17, 2023) and Securex (May 13, 2026).
Ordered inDeductible
Before January 1, 2027100%
202795%
202890%
202982.5%
203075%
2031 onwards67.5%

Securex states that the percentage a car qualifies for stays in force in the following years. A Tesla ordered in December 2026 keeps 100%. One ordered in January 2027 keeps 95%.

Order date, not delivery date

For a purchase, Securex says the date the order form is drawn up and signed is what counts, and delivery does not matter. That is the opposite of the Dutch and Danish rules that release this week, where registration day decides. A Belgian business can order a Tesla in December for delivery in February and keep 100%. For a lease or rental, the contract date rules. BDO notes the regime covers cars purchased, rented or leased from July 1, 2023.

Who this affects

Belgian companies buying or leasing a Tesla as a company car. Self-employed people taxed through personal income tax can have different rules, so ask your accountant which regime your car falls under. Private buyers are not affected.

The step from 100% to 95% sounds small. It applies every year to every deductible cost of the car, though, and the rate falls each year after 2027. For a business planning a fleet change, December 2026 is the last month to lock in the full rate.

What has not changed

  • The schedule has been in law since 2023. Nothing new was announced. What is new is that the first step is now weeks away.
  • The referral benefit. Belgium has Dutch and French versions of Tesla's referral page and showed 1,000 km of free Supercharging on Model 3 and 1,000 km of free Supercharging on Model Y, on our capture of Tesla's Belgium referral page dated September 12, 2026. It is distance, not money off, and it does not change deductibility.
  • No promo code. Tax deductibility is a matter between your business and the tax authority.

What to do

  • If 100% deductibility matters, sign the Tesla order form before December 31, 2026, and keep the dated copy.
  • Have your accountant confirm which date counts for your contract (purchase order, lease or rental) and which tax regime applies to you.
  • Ask your accountant to check for any programme-law change after May 2026 before you sign.
  • Private buyer: this rule does not apply to you.
