Tesla delivery in Canada before 2027: new Model 3 and Model Y builds quote December–January, so inventory is the safe route

Event date The day Drive Tesla Canada reported the new estimates on Tesla's Canadian order pages. CA

What happened

On August 31, 2026, Drive Tesla Canada reported that all three Canadian Model 3 versions (Premium RWD, Premium AWD and Performance) had moved to an estimated delivery of December 2026 to January 2027, and that Model Y RWD, Premium AWD and Performance showed the same window. A window that straddles New Year means a new build may well arrive in 2027. If the calendar year matters to you, a car from Tesla's Canadian inventory is the route that can deliver in 2026.

Why the year-end date matters

For many buyers the calendar year is not a detail. A lease that ends in December, a business that wants the vehicle in this year's books, a provincial rule tied to a registration date: each turns "December 2026 to January 2027" into a coin toss. An estimate is an estimate. Tesla's own ordering page says delivery timing "varies by model, location and current availability", and its delivery page calls the Tesla app "the source of truth" because estimates "are subject to change".

Drive Tesla Canada did not report any price change alongside the new estimates. These are estimates for a newly placed custom order; a car already built and sitting in Canada is a different case.

Inventory is the route with a date you can see

Tesla's ordering page sends buyers who want "more immediate delivery" to the inventory of cars already built, and the delivery page repeats it: "If you need a vehicle sooner than your delivery estimate, explore our existing inventory options." An inventory car has a VIN and a location, so the delivery date is much easier to pin down than for a build that has not started. The trade-off is choice: you take the colour, wheels and options the car was built with. How inventory prices behave is in our inventory note.

Check the federal rebate on the exact car

Canada's federal EV rebate program (EVAP) pays $5,000 on an eligible vehicle, but Drive Tesla Canada reported on September 28, 2026 that only one Tesla qualifies: "the 2026 Model Y RWD". It added that "The Model 3, Model S, Model X and Cybertruck do not qualify under the program." So a Model 3 from inventory that delivers in November does not carry the rebate, while a Model Y RWD might. Confirm the model, trim and model year of the specific inventory car against the program's own eligibility list before paying.

Who it affects

Canadian buyers who need a delivery in 2026, and anyone timing an order around a lease end, a tax year or the EVAP rebate.

What has not changed

  • The referral benefit. Tesla's Canadian referral page, captured October 5, 2026, showed 3 months of FSD (Supervised) on Model 3 and 3 months of FSD (Supervised) on Model Y. Under Tesla's terms a new inventory car qualifies as well as a custom order; the link must be opened before ordering.
  • Prices. None were reported as changed with the new estimates.
  • No code speeds an order. Delivery order is Tesla's; nothing typed in or shared changes it.

What to do

  • Re-check the estimate on Tesla's Canadian order page on the day you order; it moves.
  • If you must have the car in 2026, filter Tesla's Canadian inventory for your model and ask for the delivery date in writing before paying the order fee.
  • Check EVAP eligibility for the exact inventory car: only the 2026 Model Y RWD qualified, according to Drive Tesla Canada on September 28, 2026.
