Tesla Model 3 price in October 2026: a 16-inch screen and more range, at the same US prices
Event date The day Electrek and Tesla North reported the configurator change. US PR MX
What happened
On October 1, 2026 Tesla updated every Model 3 sold in the United States, Puerto Rico and Mexico with a 16-inch center screen, up from 15.4 inches. Electrek reported the same day that Model 3 Performance now rates 316 miles (was 309) with 528 hp, and Premium AWD reaches 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds (was 4.2). US prices did not change.

The four US trims, before and after
Electrek read the US configurator on October 1, 2026 and listed every price next to the new specification. Nothing in the price column moved. What changed is what the same money buys.
| Trim | US price | What changed |
|---|---|---|
| Model 3 RWD | $36,990 (unchanged) | 16-inch center screen |
| Model 3 Premium RWD | $42,490 (unchanged) | 16-inch center screen |
| Model 3 Premium AWD | $47,490 (unchanged) | 16-inch screen; 0-60 mph 3.8 s (was 4.2 s); EPA-estimated 346 miles |
| Model 3 Performance | $54,990 (unchanged) | 16-inch screen; 316 miles (was 309); 528 hp (510 hp at its 2024 launch); black headliner; 0-60 mph 2.9 s, unchanged |
Tesla North's report of the same update confirms the screen, the three countries, the Performance range and power figures and the Premium AWD acceleration. It does not print prices, so the price column rests on Electrek alone.
Who this affects
Anyone shopping for a Model 3 in the United States, Puerto Rico or Mexico. The bigger question is not the new car but the older one: inventory cars built before the change still carry the 15.4-inch screen and, on the two upgraded trims, the earlier range or acceleration figures. When a new order and an inventory car cost the same, the inventory car is now the lesser car.
Canada was not part of this update, according to Electrek. Mexico and Puerto Rico got the screen, but neither report gives prices for those two countries, so read them on Tesla's own Mexican or Puerto Rican site. Our Mexico page covers what the referral link gives there.
What did not change
- US list prices. All four trims kept the prices Electrek printed.
- Vehicle-to-load. Electrek notes the US Model 3 still does not get it with this update.
- The referral benefit. Our capture of Tesla's US referral page on October 4, 2026 lists 3 months of FSD (Supervised) for Model 3. A spec update does not change that line, and no promo code exists for the car.
- The base acceleration figures. Only Premium AWD got quicker; Performance stays at 2.9 seconds.
The inventory question, worked through
Tesla often sells inventory cars below the configurator price, which is the only kind of reduction it advertises on the car itself. That gap now has a second job: it has to pay for a smaller screen and, on Premium AWD and Performance, a slower or shorter-range car. If an inventory Model 3 is listed at the same price as a new order, the new order wins on spec. If it is listed lower, decide whether the difference is worth the older specification. The listing should show the build details; if it does not, ask the Tesla location before you pay the order fee. Our note on inventory price reductions explains how those discounts appear and disappear.
Prices here are as reported by Electrek on October 1, 2026. Tesla changes US prices without notice, so read the figure on Tesla's US site on the day you order.
What to do
- Comparing an inventory Model 3 with a new order: check the screen size and the range figure on the listing. At the same price, the new build is the better car.
- Offered an older-spec inventory car: ask whether its price already reflects the 15.4-inch screen and the earlier figures before you commit.
- In Mexico or Puerto Rico: read the local price on Tesla's site for your country; neither report gives one.
- Using a referral link: open it before you configure. The benefit line on that page is the one that applies, not a code typed in later.
