Want a Tesla delivered before the end of 2026? Which US trims still quoted this year

Event date The day Tesla North reported the estimates on Tesla's US order pages. US

What happened

On September 22, 2026, Tesla North reported that a new US order for the Model 3 RWD ($36,990) quoted delivery in January to March 2027, the Model Y L Premium AWD Launch Series ($61,990) January to February 2027, and the Model Y RWD ($39,990) and AWD ($41,990) December 2026 to January 2027. No new custom build was quoted a window entirely inside 2026. A car from inventory is the route to a 2026 delivery.

The estimates by trim

US list price and estimated delivery for a new order, as reported by Tesla North on September 22, 2026.

Model Y RWD$39,990December 2026 to January 2027Possibly

Tesla North added that "Tesla usually quotes delivery windows measured in weeks or a few months, so 2027 estimates mark a sharp change for US buyers", and summed it up as the cheapest Model 3 and the Model Y L being "effectively sold out for 2026". The prices are the trims' list prices before the destination fee; Tesla North also gave estimated figures of $38,630, $41,630, $43,630 and $63,630 respectively.

Why the year matters

Buyers ask for a year-end delivery for practical reasons: a business purchase booked in this tax year, a registration renewal, a lease that ends in December. Tesla's own pages warn against treating an estimate as a date. The ordering page says timing "varies by model, location and current availability", and the delivery page says estimates "are subject to change" and that the Tesla app "will always reflect the latest details". A "December to January" window is a fair chance at December, not a promise.

Inventory: the 2026 route

A car already built is the one with a delivery date you can confirm. Tesla's delivery page says it plainly: "If you need a vehicle sooner than your delivery estimate, explore our existing inventory options." Inventory cars are priced per car and can differ from the configurator price, in either direction. What you give up is the choice of colour and options. Our inventory note explains how those listings work and what to check on a demo car.

Who it affects

US buyers who need a delivery in calendar year 2026, especially for the Model 3 RWD and the Model Y L.

What has not changed

  • List prices. The figures above are Tesla's list prices on that date; the estimates moved, not the prices.
  • The referral benefit. On October 4, 2026 Tesla's US referral page showed 3 months of FSD (Supervised) on Model 3 and 3 months of FSD (Supervised) on Model Y. It does not change delivery dates. Under Tesla's US terms it applies to a new inventory car as well as a custom order, and it must be opened before you order. For the Model Y L, a trim launched after much of our capture history, read the card on Tesla's page.
  • No code or link moves you up the queue. Nothing third parties sell or share changes the order Tesla builds and delivers in.

Canada saw the same pattern earlier: see our Canadian year-end item.

What to do

  • Read the delivery estimate on the order page on the day you order, and again in the Tesla app afterwards; both change.
  • If 2026 is a must, filter US inventory for your model and confirm the delivery appointment before paying the order fee.
  • Weigh a Model Y RWD or AWD against a Model 3 RWD if timing matters more than the trim: on September 22 the Model Y estimates started in December, the Model 3 RWD's in January.
  • Don't pay anyone who offers a faster delivery slot; Tesla's terms and pages offer no such route.
